How it works
Before we sweep your chimney, we’ll completely seal off your stove or fireplace and cover the immediate area. Before the rods are inserted through the flap, we also tape a special sheet around the opening of the chimney.
Once the cleaning process is over, a smoke test is carried out to ensure smoke travels the right way up your chimney. Finally, we provide a NACS certificate and recommend a date for your next sweep to be carried out.

‘Myth buster and top tips
‘Feathers’
Chimneys have something called ‘feathers’, which are bricks that overlap as they go up, creating ledges. This is where smoke can leak out of, and what birds can create nests on, blocking your chimney! Having at least an annual sweep, and a cowl on your chimney pot, is key to maintaining the ‘health’ of chimney.
‘Keep your heat’
Regular checks on your burner is vital to ensure you don’t loose heat! There are three key parts to your fire that can come loose, resulting in gaps where air can come in which will make your coal/logs burn quicker and fumes release into your room!
- Chimney flue – The heat can make your burner walk and consequently loosen your flue from the register plate and the burner itself
- Rope – The door rope which ensures the door is closed tight
- Glass – The glass in your door can also become loose over time with the heat
