Traditional

An essential element of maintaining your fireplace is having your chimney swept and we recommend a full sweep is carried out at least once a year to ensure the free passage of gases and debris (every six months if in regular use).

Lucky Sweepess uses traditional chimney sweeping techniques to create a safer and more efficient environment in your home. All soot, creosote, cobwebs and other blockages will be removed safely and quickly to minimise the disruption to your home and prevent dangerous fires. A NACS certificate is issued following every sweep, and a smoke test carried out where necessary.

Prices starting from £65 per chimney sweep. Travel fees will apply if outside 15 miles from York.

(Discounts are available on group area bookings, and multiple chimneys in the same property.)

Birds nest

Service only available from September 1st to February 28th due to the protection of live nests under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

Blockages, such as excess soot, plants, blocked cowl can occur in your chimney which is why having a regular sweep is important, but the most common cause is birds’ nests. Blockages can cause smoke to come into your house rather than up and out your chimney, causing potential Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Lucky Sweepess ensures any birds nests are fully removed safely and will carry out a smoke test to confirm; we’ll also suggest any appropriate ‘aftercare’ to help prevent them re-occurring.

Prices starting from £100 for the first hour, and £35 per hour thereafter. Travel fees will apply if outside 15 miles from York.

A Lucky

It is considered lucky to have a chimney sweep at your wedding, which is a tradition that dates back over 200 years to the reign of King George when his life was saved by a chimney sweep. Our Sweepess, Val, will present the happy couple with a personalised certificate and gift, adding a unique twist to their special day!

Additional

During your sweep, we might identify that your burner needs some TLC such as your fire rope needs fixing, or your flue needs recementing. Lucky Sweepess can support with this, but we don’t sell or provide the equipment. If upon booking you are aware of this being needed, Lucky Sweepess can advise on what you’ll need to obtain for any fixes to be done at the time of the chimney been swept, at an additional fee. Alternatively, if this is identified during the sweep, Lucky Sweepess can come back once the necessary equipment is obtained.
